The Depressed Hunter HC - The story serves as a prequel to Mœbius's later work, The Major. The protagonist, Major Grubert, the legendary creator and overseer of the multi-layered pocket universe known as the Airtight Garage, is suffering from a deep, existential depression (a severe case of "the blues").
To escape his melancholy, the Major decides to take a vacation inside his own creation. However, his restis immediately cut short. Upon entering the Garage, he walks straight into a surreal assassination plot aimed at ending his life. What follows is a dreamlike, satirical chase through bizarre landscapes, where the Major must navigate absurd obstacles and eccentric characters while wrestling with his own internal gloom.
Mœbius never officially completed the story before his passing in 2012. Because of this, the narrative has an open-ended, spontaneous, and highly experimental feel.
The book acts as a humorous commentary on the creative process, showcasing a creator who is literally hunted and exhausted by the very world he built.
